A Note on Copyrights for the Collages

The images featured here represent a selection of the many collages made by David Alister Chitty over the past 40 years. They contain elements cut from magazines, newspapers and other publications spanning that timeframe and even further back. David does not profess to own the copyright to these individual elements, and in no way intends to offend or upset anyone concerned.

IF YOU ARE THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER TO ANY OF THE COMPONENT IMAGES USED IN THESE COLLAGES AND YOU ARE UNHAPPY IN ANY WAY WITH THEIR USE, PLEASE CONTACT US AND WE CAN ARRANGE PAYMENT OR REMOVE THE IMAGE FROM ALL CHANNELS IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT QUESTION.

It is the artist's intention to publish a book featuring some of his collage work, with all of the proceeds raised going to support children's charities. This dream is still some time away from realisation, and please be aware that before any of these images are considered for publication, we will endeavour to track down and contact all original copyright holders affected to gain their permission. If you are a copyright holder or can help us to track them down, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

David wants his work to raise money to support the children of the world, whilst having fun and inspiring others along the way. His collage artwork is intended to be received in a tongue-in-cheek manner, and not to offend or upset any of the photographers, artists or models whose work he has huge respect and admiration for.

Copyright for collage artists is a complex issue, as it doesn't follow the clear cut rules that other creative mediums employ. Furthermore, the enormity of the challenge faced in tracking down copyright holders to images that go back half a century, often without the artist's memory of where they came from, is a rather daunting one! Nonetheless we are doing our best to address this issue, and in no way intend to tread on anyone's toes in the meantime.
